Jaisohn Wellness Center, Senior Community Center

The Jaisohn Wellness Center was established inside a senior housing complex in 2021 after a
depression and isolation-induced suicide. Since mental health support is taboo in the Asian
community, activity-driven programs and preventive health classes are provided to keep seniors
active both physically and mentally. Some of the courses include line dance, singing,
mindfulness, knitting, watercolor painting, senior math, Taichi, ESL, preventive healthcare
education, and Wellness Walk programs.

In 2023, the Montgomery County Office of Senior Services designated the Jaisohn Wellness Center
as a senior community center to serve mainly AAPI seniors.
